1. 1Click a piece to select it — valid move squares will highlight.

3. 3White always moves first; players alternate turns.

📋Rules

• ▸Each piece type moves differently: pawns advance forward, bishops move diagonally, rooks move in straight lines, knights jump in an L-shape, queens combine rook and bishop movement, and kings move one square in any direction.
• ▸Castling is a special king-rook move when neither piece has moved and the path is clear.
• ▸En passant allows a pawn to capture a pawn that just advanced two squares.
• ▸Pawn promotion occurs when a pawn reaches the last rank — it becomes any piece (usually a queen).
• ▸Check means the king is under attack — it must be resolved immediately.
• ▸Stalemate (no legal moves but not in check) is a draw.
