Atlas Quiz is an original visual geography quiz with national flags and capital cities. Its curated bank covers 32 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania, with country names, capitals, controls and explanations available in all eight site languages.
How do you play Atlas Quiz online?
- 1Choose Daily expedition for a dated mixed world round, Sprint for a fifteen-second limit on each question, or Practice to answer without a clock. Daily ignores the regional and question-type filters so that its question order stays repeatable.
- 2For a flag question, inspect the large flag and choose its country. For a capital question, read the country name and choose its capital city. Four answer buttons are available every time, and the number keys 1–4 work while the game has focus.
- 3Each submitted answer locks immediately, reveals the correct option and shows the country, capital and region. Read that fact card before choosing Next question. There is no automatic jump that could hide the correction before you have finished reading it.
What are the rules of Atlas Quiz?
- –A world round contains twelve distinct countries. Regional practice or sprint rounds use up to twelve countries from that region; a small region can therefore produce a shorter round. Distractors prefer the same region, filling from the wider bank when there are too few alternatives.
- –Daily and Practice award 100 points for a correct answer and zero for a mistake. Daily has no speed bonus or timer, so translated questions do not require faster reading. Replaying the daily round is allowed; the saved result is a personal browser best, not a public ranking.
- –Sprint adds a speed bonus of up to 50 points and up to 50 more from the preceding correct-answer streak. A wrong answer or timeout gives no points and breaks that streak, but it does not end the expedition. The timer resets for the next question.
What are the best tips for winning at Atlas Quiz?
- –Look for structure before guessing: stripe direction, colour order, a cross, circle or emblem can distinguish similar designs. For capitals, separate a country’s largest familiar city from the capital in the answer bank. Atlas Quiz tests the listed country–capital pairs, not population rankings or changing political officeholders.
- –Use the result screen to review missed and timed-out questions. It shows the answer you selected and the correct country–capital facts. Regional filters make it possible to revisit a smaller set without a clock, but a score here is not a verified measure of learning or a comparison with other players.
- –The game pauses on a hidden browser tab and requires you to resume. Best scores are stored locally, separately by mode and filters; daily records also include the date and bank version. No account or network quiz service is needed. Clearing browser storage removes those personal records.
What is Atlas Quiz?
The daily seed combines the local calendar date with a versioned question bank. Country selection, question types and option positions are independent of interface language. Changing languages changes the wording rather than silently giving that language a different correct answer or a different daily route. Flags are local SVG assets rather than operating-system emoji, so the game can display them consistently on computers and phones. Country labels use localized region names, while capital names are explicitly translated. The question screen deliberately avoids putting the hidden country name into a flag question’s image alternative text.
