What are the rules of TypeSprint?
- –WPM (Words Per Minute) = (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed.
- –Accuracy is calculated as correct characters out of total typed.
- –Grades: S = 80+, A = 60–79, B = 40–59, C = 25–39, D = under 25 WPM.
- –Your personal best WPM is saved automatically across sessions.
- –Choose Easy (short sentences), Medium (normal paragraphs), or Hard (technical text).
What are the best tips for winning at TypeSprint?
- –Look at the screen, not your fingers — this is the single biggest speed booster.
- –Slow down on hard words. Your grade comes from WPM alone, but a mistake can never be undone and is reported in your accuracy score.
- –Use all ten fingers properly — home row (ASDF / JKL;) is the foundation.
- –Practice daily for 10 minutes for the fastest improvement curve.
What is TypeSprint?
Typing speed is usually measured in words per minute, where one "word" is counted as five characters. That convention makes results comparable between tests, and it is exactly how TypeSprint calculates your score: the characters in the paragraph divided by five, divided by the minutes you took. Accuracy is measured separately, as the share of characters typed correctly, because speed without accuracy is not much use — in real writing every mistake costs the time it takes to go back and fix it. TypeSprint uses real paragraphs rather than random word lists, at three levels: short, familiar sentences on Easy, ordinary prose on Medium and denser text on Hard. The timer starts on your first keystroke, each character is marked right or wrong as you type, and your best speed is saved in your browser so you always have a personal record to beat. Every run ends with a grade: S for 80 words per minute or more, A from 60, B from 40, C from 25 and D below that.
